The man in this accident was amazingly unharmed but this
proves just how the guardrails have failed.

This is a story about something I never knew about, and something every person on the road should be aware of, the dangers of guardrails. Since 2005 Trinity Industries, the Texas company that makes the end terminals, changed the way they made them. They went from a 5 inch to a 4 inch frame, a change that would prove dangerous and in many cases fetal for drivers that hit these guardrails. These changes where not reported to the Federal Highway Administration, where in a memo they state "I'm feeling that we could make this change with no announcement.” This change was made to improve the profits made by each guardrail sold. For every guardrail would be $2 saved, $50,000 a year and over $250,000 over  five years. This was  also stated in the memo. Yet the new guardrails apparently meet federal safety standards. This was decide by Mr. Artimovich, a man who said "it's hard to ignore the fatal results.” In an interview Mr. Artimovich claimed "safety is a relative matter.” I can assure you it is not. Safety is a definite, if you are safe you are free from harm. Driving has  enough dangers and allowing these guardrails to remain on the road creates another possibly fetal issue out of something that is so post to save your life. Trinity Industries is currently being sued by many of the people who were involved in accidents where the guardrail pierced their car.
